What Equipment Is Required For A Demolition?

Allcoast Group Demolition Contractors • Feb 13, 2023

Demolitions can be messy and complicated work – but it doesn't have to be! With the right equipment, demolitions can be carried out quickly, efficiently and with minimal disruption. Here's a rundown of the essential equipment needed for a successful demolition project.

Demolition Permits

During the demolition process, a skip bin may be used to hold any debris. Planning ahead will provide more space for waste materials, making it easier to strategically manage the working area and minimise any potential risks associated with handling hazardous materials, or large objects. At Allcoast Group Demolition Contractors, sustainability is a major priority, and we aim to recycle 80% of all salvaged materials from each project. We use green waste for mulching, concrete for crushing and metal and glass for recycling.

Once permits have been obtained, the demolition process can be undertaken using hand tools or heavy machinery, depending on the size and scope of the project. It may take several days or longer to complete work, but once finished, it will leave a clean slate for whatever project is next in line. If you have specific timeframes for when you need a building demolished, it’s important to discuss this with your chosen company or contractor before they commence work.

Demolition Process

The great thing about bricks and stones is that they can be reused in other buildings, so they don't have to be wasted once a property is removed. Both building materials make up the foundation of our homes, so they can be easily made into new bricks and stones to use in other projects.

Stones can also be ground into gravel or sand, which can then be used to cover roads or fill in holes in the ground where trees have been removed. They can also be used to make foundations for new houses, bridges or other structures that need a strong base, making them a very valuable material to reuse in other properties.

Equipment Used in a Demolition

Hammers, chisels, sledgehammers and electric power tools are typically used for smaller demolition projects; heavy machinery such as skid steers and excavators are used for larger tasks. These machines are designed to tear down walls, scoop up debris and concrete, clear away rubble and perform other demolition-related tasks.
